Manyshot Change?

Am I correct in understanding that the PF version of Manyshot now has become 1 extra arrow on the first of the full round attack action? The trade off is that when you add the extra arrow you don't actually take a hit in attack bonus.. is that about right?

If I am understanding this correct.. it might be one of the first things I have found that I am not a fan of with PF

So Archery is made more congruent with melee attacks. Needed since ranged gets power attack in the form of Deadly Aim and single standard action attacks can benefit from Vital Strike.

Indeed Vital Strike provides relatively the same function as the 3.5 manyshot without the two arrows fired in one shot silliness. As an additional benefit, it no longer rewards the cheesy loading down of arrows with damage dice enhancements which worked with the 3.5 manyshot.

Basically, it's an upgrade of Rapid Shot. It's a good feat, I think, in terms of providing a useful benefit. However, I am sort of perturbed, from a backwards compatibility standpoint, that a feat for a standard action was changed to a feat for a rull round action. Also, it has the effect of in general continuing the trend toward multiple arrows a round, already an area where D&D's level of realism is tenuous at best.

So Greater Manyshot from SRD no longer is compatible?
Greater Manyshot [General]

You are skilled at firing many arrows at once, even at different opponents.
Prerequisites

Dex 17, Manyshot, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit

When you use the Manyshot feat, you can fire each arrow at a different target instead of firing all of them at the same target. You make a separate attack roll for each arrow, regardless of whether you fire them at separate targets or the same target. Your precision-based damage applies to each arrow fired, and, if you score a critical hit with more than one of the arrows, each critical hit deals critical damage.
Special

A fighter may select this feat as one of his fighter bonus feats.

So Greater Manyshot from SRD no longer is compatible?

Why not? It still allows you to aim the two arrows at different targets and apply precision based damage on both. Same with critical hits. Seems still beneficial to me, at least for rogues.
With Manyshot and Greater Manyshot, you gain an additional attack without any penalties (besided costing two feats) on a full attack.

There is also some deabte on the Paizo boards that says you can use both manyshot and rapid shot in the same round. So at BAB+6 you fire +4 (two arrows)/+4/-1 before other modifiers.

I would say that that is true based on the text of the two feats:

Rapid Shot said:
Rapid Shot (Combat)
Benefit: When making a full-attack action with a ranged
weapon, you can fire one additional time this round...
Manyshot said:
Manyshot (Combat)
Benefit: When making a full-attack action with a bow,
your first attack fires two arrows.
To me this says that Manyshot just happens when you make a full attack action with a bow, while Rapid shot is a choice to make each time you take a full attack action with a bow.

Now I would also say that you could choose not to use Manyshot, but I think the text supports both feats being used simultaneously.

Frankthedm got it. For the old Manyshot see the new Vital Strike feats. Pretty easy to convert. Bonus damage and no penalties to-hit. Still want that penalty to-hit? Take up Deadly Aim and trade a -1 attack for +2 damage that scales as you level, very nice.
