March 4th, DM's Day?

I was just changing the date on our wiki's "Session Reminder Page" for the next session of my "Second Son of a Second Son" D&D campaign, and realized it would be March 4th (two weeks from today).

Isn't that DM's day?

Does that still happen? I have not seen reference to it in a while and well, we only have 14 shopping days left (well, not we my players do ;)) . . . Unless I am misremembering. . .

I'd like to see a GM's day this year. Our group celebrated, and I actually got to play a game instead of run one. :)

Especially if they have sales at DTRPG like they did last year.

So has this tradition died out or what?

It is a week away. . . and I find it odd that no one is talking about it. . . :\

YourGamesNow GM's Day Sales

Expeditious Retreat Press is putting most of our e-product at www.YourGamesNow.com on sale for 25% off next week, and I know a lot of other publishers at the site are planning on doing the same. I'll give 'em a nudge to post here. ;)

We are also extending the sale to physical books on our on-line store

*edit-YourGamesNow has gift certificates for you players that want to give your GMs something, but don't know what they already have.

Has GM's Day turned into President's Day already? :\

I mean, the sales are nice and all, and I am glad to take advantage of them - but GM's Day is about appreciating those hard-working long-time GMs who make sure either by design or by improvisation that they give the best game they can at each session.

It is a day to appreciate the extra mile a GM goes to pick out the right minis before the session, write up and print out handouts of info for the players. . .

It is a day to say thank you for GMs that involve the idiosyncrasies of your character into the game, creating hooks and sub-plots to keep everyone involved.

It is a day to show respect for the GM that will visualize, map out and stock that trapped mega-dungeon that chews up your player characters.

It is a day to be in awe the breadth and detail to your GM's house-rules, or to thank the gods that your GM uses almost none. . .

It is GM's DAY! It is a day to hold a glass up in honor of the game master and toast him (or her, as the case may be)!

Has your GM been good this year? Do they deserve to find more behind their screen than a lump of coal carved into the shape of a d20? Buy your GM an adventure, and you might even get to play in it! It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Lame Mage Productions is participating in the GM's Day Sale at YourGamesNow. All our products will be 25% off, including M&M Superlink adventures like Evil Genius #1: World Domination, Zodiac Ring, and Death of Dr Null.

Because a good GM is a terrible thing to waste...

Yep, just so. Even when the games don't turn out so well, you should love your GM for trying.
