I don't play them. But a cousin of mine asked if any good Marvel / Super Hero rpgs out there for girls age 12-14. So simple is better since they just be pick up games.

There are a bunch of supers games out there, and several for Marvel specifically.

For an old, simple standard, you might go look at the first of the Marvel games, which can be found at Classic Marvel Forever*, buried in the menus. Many folks these days would hate the design, but it is simple, allows a lot of creative play, and is pretty god for pickup play.

The new Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game, from Margaret Weis Productions, is also an awesome game, based on the CORTEX rules. It is less simple, and I find the presentation of some of the concepts a bit clumsy, but it is still a great game.

*I must note, I am actually skirting our rules here. I can't speak to the legality of that site. Nowhere does it say they're reproducing the content with agreement of the copyright holders. On the other side, it has existed for years. If it isn't legal, the holders are willfully turning a blind eye.

I was literally going to say all of the above exactly. If the kids are smart and ambitious, the Cortex version may be a good fit, but the original is a classic (I still play it to this day) and hard to go wrong with.

The Marvel games are probably just right. The DC Heroes might also work. My recollection of the Tri-Stat system is that it was fairly easy to use, and that is the system Silver Age Sentinels uses.

If they're ever up to handling more complex RPGs like D&D, then there isn't a supers system they couldn't handle- M&M 2Ed or 3Ed, HERO (4th, 5th or 6th), GURPS...

One vote here for old-school FASERIP-style Marvel. I played that system with my little brother when he was 10, and I'm sure your cousin is smarter than my little brother. ;)

Task resolution is simple, you get to look stuff up on a colorful chart, and your stats have cool monikers like "incredible," "amazing," and so forth.

Heck, my brother and I still use that system. Kinda.

"This beer is incredible!"
"No, man, it's amazing. That's 10 points more."

The tricky part might be finding the (really excellent) area-based cityscape maps the game uses. But if you can find a set of maps, you're golden.
