Well this evening, the Capcom Corporate Officer and VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development has some good news for gamers.</p><p></p><p>For some time now, we've heard rumors that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers would get an upgraded version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on their HD consoles. That has been confirmed tonight by Christian Svensson, better known to his followers as "Sven," on his blog, where he stated that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network some time this summer.</p><p></p><p>Sven goes on to explain why this will be "the definitive version" of MvC2, listing off some changes to this classic:</p><p></p><p><strong>It’s based on the Dreamcast code base</strong> – Seems the gaming community preferred the original Dreamcast version more than the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions. So Capcom based this revamp on the "best" version -- the Dreamcast one.</p><p></p><p><strong>There is online</strong> – Developed by Backbone, this new MvC2 will share the same net code as Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, meaning gamers will be using the same player matching "lobby" system. Leaderboards and stat tracking will be included as well.</p><p></p><p><strong>HD upscaling options</strong> – Capcom knows many Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers like their HDTVs, so they've tossed in a few options for such gamers to choose from in the new MvC2. The two upscaling options have been termed "Crisp" and "Smooth," though an unfiltered "Classic" option is still available for purists. There doesn't seem to be much difference between the two HD options, and Sven has stated it's a matter of personal preference. Comparison screenshots will be available soon, so we'll be getting a closer look at these 3D environments within the next few days.</p><p></p><p><strong>Widescreen</strong> – Again with the HD! Capcom has added widescreen support, and the edges won't be cut off like in HD Remix. The gameplay area will be in a 4:3 field, while the viewing area will be widescreen. There will be options to adjust this, of course.</p><p></p><p><strong>No unlocking</strong> – All 56 fighters will be available from the start, so players won't have to go through the trouble of unlocking them.
