[massively OT] Dentist pricing complant.

Ok I'm not comlaining baout the dentist, or the oral surgun, or even how much it's going to cost me to get my teeth pulled. (1,700$) I understand its difficult, requires training, I need to get knocked out, there's mal practice insurance which is insanely expensive, and its my own dang fault for not having dental insurance.

What I'm comlaining about is a pricing method they've used on me. They show me a big bill, then they say oh but we're giving you a discount. Sorry but this just seems like crap, they where going to charge 1700 all along, they write up 1900 then give me a 200 discount to make it look like there good guys and giving me a break and so 1700 isn't really than bad is it?

It just feels really dishonest to me.

Anyway sorry for the massively OT rant, but I needed to complain to someone and I interact with people more here than I do at my work where I'm not overly fond of people.

yeah it's an old scam, but it just feels worse when it's coming from a doctor whose services you need and so the scam is totally unnecesary. I guess its when I go to a car dealer I expect him to try and over sell me with "discounts" and benefits just for me. But it just seems wrong in a non-sales position.

To induce paranoia... Does your dentist use that little scrapey tool to scratch the back of one of your teeth, then suggest an appointment in a couple of months? Keep track of what tooth the dentist finds a cavity in. :)

All I can say is that I'm damn glad I *do* have dental insurance! Wow!

I had my teeth knocked out a couple of years ago by a man weilding a golf club. Cost me $20,000 AU to get them fixed. Lucky I had sued the bas***d for a lot more than that!
