Master of the Skins PrC

OK, on the surface this looks real cool. By 15th level I can turn into a gargantuan dragon!! Or can I?

Well, the PrC doesn't say anything about the HD limit. So that means we go by the Wild Sahpe description which says you must also have the HD of the size you want to turn into.

So, that means I can only turn into a Large Dragon. The best I will ever do, unless I happen to play an Epic level game somethime, is a Huge Dragon. Thats only a Green and a White Dragon. That sucks!

Well what cool and Huge or larger creatures can I turn into? An elemental? No. Well, what about giants? Well, that is kind of cool. At 15th level I can turn into all but a Storm Giant. Well, how about? No, that is a magical beast AND has too many HD.

How about a Roc? Aww, no, that has 18 HD. Got to wait 3 more levels.

Hey! I can turn into a 15 HD Umber Hulk! Now that is very cool!

What is this? Are they saying that the Master of Skins is a master of wearing many forms, but not for very long? Is that why the duration of a Wildshape is equal to just the Druid level? That doesn't make sense! Oh, wait, that must be because the duration of the Wild Shape is dependent on a Druid level. One of those things the PrC stops the progression of.

That sucks!

Well, lets see, what can else I turn into that is gargantuan. (paging through MM1) Lets see, the first creature I come across is Roc, in the "R" section. Lets see, anything else?
Ah! A Tendriculos becomes Gargantuan at 17 HD! So does a Treant! A wyvern becomes Garg. at 11 HD! Woohoo!! Whales at 12HD! Now we are on a roll!

What is the purpose of this PrC again? Lose 10 levels of spellcasting for what? To gain the Shapechanger type? A handful of creatures? Granted there may be more in the MM2, MM3, FF, etc.... But....

I think I will just stay with a pure Druid.
