Maug player character

[Question]

Im trying to figure out how to make a maug as a PC. It doesnt have a "Maug as player characters...." section. How do i figure out the stat bonuses and any other bonuses it may have?

Now im slightly confused.......the table lists the maug as having 2 levels of construct with a LA of +3. The text however says that the maug's ECL is +5, with no mention of monster levels. Which is correct?

Also what is the meaning of the (B) besides the alertness feat? That it is a bonus feat?

Yes. Maugs have 2HD and an LA of +3, that's an ECL of 5. In some ways (the fact that they basically immune to everything but damage) Maugs are too strong at this level. In other ways (the fact thay they have terrible hit points and saves) They are too weak. Maugs... And, really, any construct, are very difficult to get the proper balance on as PCs.

The B means that Alertness is a bonus feat. Also, Maugs are proficient with Double Bladed Swords, Heavy Armor, Medium Armor, and Light Armor. (creatures are proficient with any weapons and armor mentioned in their entries, as well as any lighter armors).

Note, too, that Maugs use Outsider Skill POints for their two Construct Hit Dice.

2 character levels + 3 level adjustment (LA) = Effective character level (ECL) 5.

(B) means it's bonus feat, yes.

(Edit: I thought those feats were called "racial feats" but it looks like I was wrong.)
