I was thinking AEG's Spycraft might very well serve this purpose.

I second this notion that Spycraft may just be all we'll need for modern d20 gaming.....its'll be out within the week or so...and thus is already viable becuase we do not have to wait till november.....plus I wasn't all that thrilled over the core classes from Shadow Chasers... (although I do like the ShadowChasers mini game overall).....

I'll probably even incorporate some of the Spycraft OGL into my own d20 game Dark Revelations

Not me either, I'm afraid. Unless Spaycraft or d20 Modern totally change my paradihm for d20 games the moment I'm done running Rokugan d20 I'll be back to using Hero System. I'm in a mood now for Modern Horror.:)

What is it that you want changed o added in the d20 System without losing its identity as Yet Another Rules System? Because if you want it to mirror the Hero System, then you might as well just play the Hero System.

Spycraft - Rocks!
Shadow Chasers - Rocks!
(d20 Modern? I hope the book will rock.)

I'm likeing both these settings a lot.
And yes Spycraft is perfect for G.I.Joe.
It very much has the flavor of G.I.Joe on many levels.
If you didn't download "Spycraft lite" already, you should now.

I don't particularly want d20 to mirror hero system. Hero System is an excellent generic system that can be used for almost any genre. d20 is an excellent system for DnD and with work can be adapted to most fantasy games. Fantast makes great use of archtypes, so a classes system can work well for that. For pretty much everything else I prefer classless and levelless.

If you want one primary complaint, then I like to use martial arts in pretty much any game I play in or run. I've yet to find adecent system for martial arts in d20, I suspect it might take someone thinking way outside the box to manage this.

I'm afraid I will be buying Spycraft when it will be released.

I think it will be a great game, even if it's only half as good as the lite version.

lite version?

And where pray tell may I get this lite version?
I am extremely interested in how things are put together. I dont like paying for something until I know a little bit about how good it is.
