[QUOTE="roguerouge, post: 3623583, member: 13855"] My player out!!!!! (And some mild DCC0 spoilers) Okay. I need help figuring out how to do a melodrama episode. I'm running a campaign for 1 PC who's playing a bard. Hence, I want some of my "side quests" in which the BBEG is life and to involve using her copious charisma and stealth skills to influence how the melodrama plays out, tragic or comic. Our Setting: Dundraville, the quiet, isolated farming village in which you grew up. The sign on the outskirts says Population 452—of which you can identify most by name and all by sight. This occurs just AFTER killing the villains in Dungeon Crawl Classics 0. (So be sure to indicate whether there are spoilers in your posts!) Episode Arc: We need to complicate Dior's life, but still give her a chance to positively impact the narrative arc. At the end of this melodrama episode, we need to get Dior and three of the following (Bec, Bowen, Lord Casimir, Mischa, Anya'drea) out of town and on to the next adventure. In game time, a couple of weeks or a month or two is how long the episode can last. Winning this adventure means leaving home without regrets and recrimination. Losing the adventure means just slinking out of town. Dior must be accompanied by Anya'drea and at least one other villager. Previously on... Six villagers went in search of adventure and ended up saving a barmaid and a gnome from a gruesome fate. These heros are Dior (our PC), Bec, Bowen, Lord Casimir, Anya'drea, and Mischa. The party's resting. Bec and Mischa were both knocked unconscious, Mischa seriously so. They've got a lot of wealth and have saved the two villagers. It's getting on towards morning. The Cast: Dior: Our PC, Bard 2, 18, she's the youngest of 3. (In this campaign, untrained bards have "lore books" rather than use the spells known table for bards. They prepare spells.) Bec: Older brother, built like an ox, Commoner 1/Warrior 1. In the town militia. Mother: Iron will of Dior's family; mother had been a bard adventuress, wants her children to have a better life. Father: silent shepherd type. Eldest brother: Saw Dior and her crew sneak out of town, despite Mother's expressly forbidding it; tattled, the rat. Anya'drea: best friend of Dior, local wizard's apprentice. Expert 2 with a kickin' UMD skill. Smart, ambitious, pretty Anya'drea stole a magic wand to be able to go on the adventure with the party. Wants to be a wizard, has been an apprentice for two years, got a wizard's spell book in the adventure, can't cast spells. Dior can though. Lord Casimir: Aristocrat 2, scion of what passes for landed aristocracy in this wilderness village. Stylish fop who fancies himself a bit of a warrior hero. A good egg, but the EGO! Engaged in ongoing battle for control over the party with Dior, which he ruefully lost, despite having been the one who recruited her for the adventure. An arrogant swain of several local women, Casimir’s apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Perhaps his mother wouldn’t let it. He had decided to march into danger not simply for the glory but also to rescue ... Dayl: the fair barmaid, damsel in distress, rescued by the party in the caverns outside of town. Dior suspects some non-paladin-like behavior between Casimir and Dayl. Bowen: dreamy shepherd in tight leather pants. Warrior 2 Mischa: Elven Witch of the Wood (actually, Adept 2). Invokes the spirits a goodly amount, gets along best with Bowen. Secondary cast: Lord Duncan Merriweather, mayor, had been handling (but not solving) the Dundraville crisis adequately for some time. Casimir's family's been a thorn in his side the entire time. Newt: gnome alchemist also rescued in the caverns. Likes Dior's tales. Kerwin Krell is a skeezy old shopkeeper with a bad comb-over and a forced smile who moonlights as a crusty old innkeeper at The Merry Riot Inn. This inn boasts a massive common room, a full service kitchen, and 8 guest chambers Darly, Dayla and Dayl, are the waitresses. They're the vapid popular girls, although there might be something more to Dayl. Berk, a Halfling who owns Berkclay Brothers Brewery with his brother, Clay, the brewer. They make ale, stout, pale ale, pumpkin ale, and fire ale, which is brewed with spicy hot peppers.
