Update: Now that Urban Combat Mecha: the Lioness is complete, I will be beginning work on Merc Manual: Korbah's Stompers. For anyone following the flavour text and NPCs of the Urban Combat Mecha series, you've seen the name "Korbah's Stompers" come up a few times. The first Merc Manual will lay the Stompers out in full detail, and then some. Here is the brief outline of what the book will include. Introduction: who are the Stompers? Part I: Merc Company Details Key personel: NPCs with stats and backgrounds (including backgrounds for the NPCs featured in the Urban Combat Mecha series. Unit organization: Korbah's Stompers is actually a small merc unit, typically fielding no more than 5-7 mechs in any given operation. They obviously cannot handle the same range and scope of contracts as some of the bigger mercenary companies, but the Stompers have a reputation for overcoming vastly greater opposition and a high success rate. Equipment: Descriptions and stats for equipment fielded by the Stompers Headquarters: where the Stompers hang their hats when not in battle (may include a map if I'm lucky) Part II: In Your Game Hiring the unit: the Stompers are actually cheaper to hire than most bigger companies (though the actual price-per-soldier ends up to be higher than the average group of mercs). This section lays out the average costs for hiring the Stompers, who they typically take jobs from, who Korbah won't take jobs from, etc. Joining the unit: How the Stompers recruit, what they look for in recruits, what kind of training & treatment recruits can expect Fighting with the unit: Stompers procedures and conventions, unit strategies and tactics (possibly with new mechanics) Fighting against the unit: Stompers weaknesses; how to best their tactics, advice for not getting killed and such. Backgrounds: Ways to work Korbah's Stompers into your character's backstory, your setting's history, etc. Part III: Scenarios A few mission-style scenarios using Korbah's Stompers in the UCM setting. Part IV: Index If I have any game mechanics elsewhere in the book, it gets reprinted here. Is this format missing anything? Any other details you'd like to see?
