Rules Set CAMPAIGN HOUSE RULES: Mesoamerica by Jay Hafner Player's Background: The high priest Yclizl of the Bat god Camazotz , has declared that war with the Toltec jaguar warriors is looming. They will not only come to take your city, but they are known for killing everyone inside the cities they conquer. http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/dragon/dragon-hp.htm Ability Scores: Use a 28 point buy. People shouldn't start out as supermen. Races: * Human (average height is 5'4") MUST Choose subrace culturefor appearance and abilities: ** Aztec - As standard human or half-elf ** Myan - As Human, Halfling or dwarf ** Inca - As Human or dwarf ** Toltec - As elf, half-elf, or human. ** Olmec - As human or half-orc ** Pueblo or Anisazi - As human or halfling *** It doesn't matter that each of these cultures existed at different times..this is fantasy. Classes Prohibited: Bard, Paladin Modified: Spellcasters cannot be good-aligned Clerics: May only use the gods from teh "OLMAN" list from the World of Greyhawk (download the list from www.canonfire.com) Prestige Classes: Only allowed by DM's special permission. The mesoamerican prestige classes that appered in DRAGON magazine are allowed (e.g. jaguar warrior, etc.) Armor and weapons: Metal weapons and armor cost 5x as much and are made from bronze-allowy (iron equivalent) and armor ALWAYS subject to the effects of heat unless the wearer is underground or high in the mountains (the only place it's cool in Mesoamerica). Equipment: Primitive versions only. Spells: Abjuration, enchantment, summoning and fear-effects are more powerful in Mesoamerica. All cleric spells require some kind of sacrifice depending upon the level. Anything from plants or bugs, to human virgins will do. Combat: Unarmored characters get a +2 movement bonus to AC when facing a metal armored foe. Map: Use the national geographic map (Mesoamerica): http://www.ngmapstore.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=110&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=6&iSubCat=48&iProductID=110 ...
