Message: <blockquote data-quote="Dannyalcatraz" data-source="post: 4374708" data-attributes="member: 19675">I don't recall encountering too many gamers in broader society at large, but I've definitely marked myself as one.I was taking a course called "Biblical Themes in Literature," in which the objective was to discuss how the Bible and Biblical themes and imagery keep showing up in books, film, TV, etc., like the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse (from Revelations).So we were discussing an exerpt from a horror novel in which a child was being described in great detail, using images that were linked to certain specific devils.The prof (Dr. Bates Hoffer) asked what was being alluded to when the child was described one way, then another, through about 12 different allusions.Unlike my usual self, I actually raised my hand and answered one "Belial" and another "Lucifer" and a third "Pazzuzzu," etc., all the time head down & scribbling notes, not realizing until the final answer that I was the only one even raising my hand, Prof. Hoffer had started calling on me by name...and everyone was looking at me.After the class, 2 girls who knew me asked me how I knew that stuff, joking that Catholics like myself don't usually read the Bible that closely (an unfortunate truth). I responded that all that stuff was in D&D's monster manual.</blockquote>
