Well, I'm back form that movie, so I'll be ambling over to the Rogue's Gallery (just gotta find the place) to post those Epic spellcasters in a moment. However, let me digress a bit ... nay, let me e honest, let me hijack this thread and GUSH about the GREAT film I just saw: [hijack] The movie I saw tonight was Miyazaki's Spirited Away, and I have to say -- it was bar none the single, absolute, unequalled BEST anime I have ever in seen -- in my whole 30+ year life. Seriously. Superbly dubbed, and as usual, impeccably animated by Studio Ghibli (?sp), this movie blew me away completely -- none of the characters were flat or one-dimensional, the visuals all worked amazingly, and the attention to detail was a high-water-mark even for Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli (?sp). As odd as it may sound ... while Chihiro is climbing a ladder (barefoot), the animators even took the time to animate her toes wiggling ... ! Who would have expected that sort of attention to detail ... ? Frankly, even expanding beyond the scope of anime alone, I'm hard pressed to think of a single movie of any genre that was a more satisfying viewing experience, than Spirited Away was. I will own a copy of this on DVD -- god HELP the schmuck who gets between me and my copy of this, and may his health insurance premiums be FULLY up-to-date, heh! Some films can tie it; some MOODS render it not the best thing to watch )if you're looking for an action flick, this isn't it -- no mega-deah-robots, no ninja, no gunfighting ...). What it is, in essence, is a truly timeless, classic sort of "fairy tale" story. Several classic elements, but none overused to the point of becoming "same old, same old". The storytelling isn't just good; it's just beyond belief! Truly an engaging film; I'm normally constantly sucking at my drink durign a movie; tonight, I forgot I HAD one. I forgot I was thirsty ... ! ... Jeeze, listen to me, it's been four hours, and I'm still absolutely gushing over this film!!! If you like anime, and enjoy non-MegaRobot, non-action anime (along the lines of My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and other Miyazaki films) ... you have GOT to see Spirited Away ... I think it may just be his lifetime BEST film, period!!! [/hijack]
