Metamorphosis Alpha 1e 'House on the Hill'

darjr

I crit!
Metamorphosis Alpha: The House On The Hill is out. I thought it was an adventure, it does contain one, however it is a guide and rules for creating your own 'round house' inside the Warden.

I'm going to run one during Nuke-Con and thought there were a few MA fans around here that might be interested.

I might also stat up Mutant Future for it.

Note that I received a surprise copy for being a member of the Metamorphosis Alpha Boards. A very pleasant surpise.

I'm torn between running it with MA1e or MF. I might bring both and let the players decide.

MA was the first RPG I ever bought, way back when! I loved that evocative cover with the high tech inside and the mutant jungle outside, with the flying snake emerging from the robots head!

I still remember the first campaign I ever ran, where a group of mutant adventurers formed their own village community, rescuing people from malevolent communities.

I also remember that I completely misunderstood the implied balance between humans and mutants... the fact that human leadership potential was used to work out how to use technology was the balancing factor so that where mutants had their powers, humans could get technology. I remember thinking "Duh, should be intelligence, not leadership for working out tech stuff". In a campaign where humans and mutants can both use technology, guess how many human PCs there were. Ever. :(

My first ever self-written RPG used metamorphosis Alpha as the setting too.

It was even because of MA that I learned how to draw perfect a perfect elipse with just two sheets of plain paper (thanks Dad!)

And only now, I find there are discussion boards for it? I must pay a visit!

Cheers

Leadership Potential is also potentially good for, you know, leading. Followers are as helpful as henchmen in D&D, and besides your limit of fellow humans you can have as many mutants as you can befriend.

Reading the brief at the EN World/RPGNow store, I was put in mind of Judges Guild's Frontier Forts of Kelnor. If that's about right, then there should be quite a few adventures for one to get out of the booklet's algorithms.

Sure, but when you are 15, and weighing up "I might be able to get followers and henchmen" vs "I can burn stuff WITH MY MIND!", which do you think won?

;)

Well, I've tried to join the Metamorphosis Alpha boards, and it looks like being pretty difficult... I registered 3 days ago and my account is still inactive because I'm waiting for administrators to activate it... but apparently if you don't post anything within 3 days they'll ban the account!

Bit of a catch-22 there...

Craig has been battling persistent spammers over there. Since he's been back home I think he's got some control over it but the draconian sign up procedures are still probably in place.
