Chapter I Page Three
OOC: Dirigible, you're right, I am assuming being chained will have the same consequences as being entangled: -2 Attack, -4 Dex.
Torak - The pirate must have heard the orc’s words, for as he charged his eyes widened in surprise to hear the orc speak in his own language of innocence and healing. It was then that he noticed the chains binding the orc to the deck, but his momentum hurtled him forward. He twisted his grip on his sword, hoping to divert the blow, but Torak ducked directly into the sword’s path. The blade slid cleanly into Torak’s shoulder as the pirate barreled into him, and he felt his blood flow freely down his arm. The pirate wrenched out the blade. “I’m not sorry, orc.” He growled. Several blood stains darkened his leather armor and fresh splatter of blood dotted his face. He brought his sword up to Torak’s face, the blood still dripping along its edge. “But I am curious why one of your kind is chained up as a slave. After we find out, your death will be reserved for the Captain.” As the pirate glared at him, Torak saw over his shoulder two orcs with bloody vardatches, bits of gore still caught within the serrated edges, charge the pirate from behind.
OOC: Rushed Diplomacy check made as a full-round action at –10 penalty to change attitude of hostile enemy: automatic failure. Not enough to prevent the pirate from charging, but enough to instill a –2 penalty to his attack and damage. The attack still hits, but only for 8 damage. Torak hp 2.
Abdiel and Methuselas - The orc still hovered over Abdiel, its eyes glazing over, but not yet dead. Abdiel grasped the vardatch with one hand and dragged his second chained arm in order to clasp the pommel with both. The chains bit into his wrists and the confined space reduced his ability to maneuver, but he now had the weapon, and the dazed orc did not. Abdiel pierced the orc’s armor just as Methuselas above him wrapped the chain around the orc’s neck. The orc lost his footing in the slippery hold, and crashed down, the chain twisting his neck as the vardatch wrenched and twisted in his guts. Neither Methuselas nor Abdiel were sure who had dealt the lethal blow, but as each leaned over they saw the orc staring blankly upward with unseeing eyes.
OOC: Eonthar, the vardatch is a martial weapon, if grasped two-handed. If you would like to begin trying to break the chains, roll for damage in your post. But there is not enought room to stand up until the chains are broken and you leave the shelves.
Karita - The first swipe of her clawed hand drew blood on the orc’s armor. He wore no protection save for his jerkin, but he proved to be adept at dodging her next attempts. In anger, he swiped her in return with his vardatch, but she easily danced around his blows. In the chaos onboard the deck, amidst the yells and roars of humans and orcs, no one seemed to notice the beastwoman and the orc facing off against each other.
OOC: Escape Artist check takes one full minute at DC 30: check failed.
