I wasn't looking at his tweets, since I don't have twitter (or bluesky or any other sort of social media beyond forums like this one, since I am generally incapable of communicating in the character limits that they have). I was referring solely to the post he made here, #993. I don't need to "read tea leaves" or his mind to know exactly what he said in that post. I didn't respond directly to his post. Instead, I had initially responded to a post made by AlViking, which wasn't even in response to anything they said--I was just mentioning that I feel freer to take crazy risks in the 5e game I'm in where there's next to no chance of me dying (due to having a grave cleric in the party). This led to Mamba asking me something, and in that response (#999) I also quoted Mearls' post from here, and this time I discussed the probable differences between a character that one has played with for potentially years and a possibly throwaway character for a one-shot con game. A death of the former will have a much different effect on many people than a death of the latter. That led to other people talking about death vs. failure and The Walking Dead. And then you, who seems to have not realized I was talking about his post and not his tweet. In rereading Mearls' post here, he talked about tweaks he made to "design drafting," which could mean he's actually referring to the game he's been working on on his patreon that I've been sort-of following and not either 1e or Shadowdark. I actually made a comment or two on there that he liked, in response to his designs. I'm a few posts behind on that project, though.
