Althogether it was more expensive then buying them sure. :)

I never said it wasn't. But if I just bought the books on Amazon I wouldn't have the pdf versions. I wanted the PDF versions because I like PDF for DMing.

The printouts are for around the table use.

Well, the cost and existence of the PDFs is irrelevant. You could just as easily buy them and also buy the dead tree copies.

Ultimately, I guess it comes down to whether you feel the premium of a "real" copy vs. a printed copy is worth the increased quality, hard cover, etc.

I showed up at lulu.com, made a new account, started a new project, uploaded the pdf compilation, and designed a crappy cover. Took about 5 minutes plus upload time. They won't let you make the book available for sale to others unless you have publication rights, but they'll allow "just for me" type printing of pdfs. I'll have to post a couple of pictures (edit: see attachments; Bluespawn Stormlizard shown for scale).

I'll keep this in mind. I was just under the impression (apparently falsely) that Lulu wouldn't do single print for you only pieces.

To each his own dude. :) If you like the hard copy original books, thats awesome. More power to you. It cost a few dollars less then the amazon copies, but really, I like the printouts.

I like having the pdfs, so I will buy them. I like having the printout for around the table for certain books. (Not all fo them need printouts.)

I also like the printouts for the fact that I don't feel bad if I have to write in them, or they get a folded page or something.

In the end, I wasn't trying to say look I got the best deal or anything. I was simply stating that I was happy with what I got. :)

If it's not for you it's not for you... Why do some people seem to always want to spread negative vibes around??? :P

I just created an account at lulu and ordered a book. One thing I wasn't certain about was if the pages were double-sided. Are they?

Price wise, lulu is definately cheaper. I ended up paying about $14 US. The same book [same page count, also b&w] at mimeo was about $35 US.

Does Lulu offer spiral binding?

I like spiral binding because it allows me to fold the book over, and save space, as well as keep the book open to that page easily.
