Iron Sky
Procedurally Generated
Hello all. I made this adventure for a buddy of mine whose characters had just hit Paragon and were looking for a challenge. I built the adventure to his specifications, but it can easily be adapted to different circumstances.
Basic premise: A hobgoblin army is heading to launch an attack on a neighboring kingdom. An elite unit of Hobgoblins was sent ahead to secure the pass before the main army gets there and the party is the other kingdom's response. Their task: take the pass before the hobgoblin army gets there.
A few notes:
The xp given for each encounter is probably slightly understated. The xp is for the monster value alone and, especially for the first and third fights, the hobgoblins have vastly superior initial positioning. Adjust accordingly. The fights are level 11, 13, 12, and 14.
The hobgoblin army will arrive in either two or three days, allowing the PCs either 1 or 2 extended rests as they take on the pass. The DM can adjust this number as seen fit to accomodate his or her party.
The monsters were designed with my own custom monster-design methods. The main differences you'll notice is that minions do rolled damage and, to simplify monster creation, all monsters stats are identical, so instead of listing Str, Con, Dex, etc, it just says something like Stats: 16(+5).
If I want the enemy to be smart, fast, or whatever, I'll describe, play, and/or design powers for them so they play that way. Devorcing monster stats from their designs simplifies things immensely.
Hope someone finds this useful. Enjoy!
