This post is directed at those who plan on picking up the new WOTC minis when they are released.

Granted you'll want hordes of some minis, like kobolds and orcs, but what about the others where one or two is sufficient. The answer is trade with others like the mage knight people do.

If I set up a mini-trading area on rpoes where you could enter what minis you had to trade and what minis you wanted so that people could trade with one another would you use it?

Maybe. It depends how I feel about the first pack of minis I buy. If I like them, sure, i'll buy more and trade. If they are bad, then its probably not worth the time for you to set it up.

I would at least think about it. Mostly I'll probably use one of the newer FLGS around here, but if there's a site set up with enough people it would definatly be a good option.

Setting it up would be easy. Look at a system like Bartertown (www.bartertown.org). It is a good idea, although it plays into the hands of Wotc's sketchy business plan of trading miniatures. It is making the best of a bad situation, but does it perpetuate the bad situation? I would rather just buy miniatures in packs and pay for what I want rather than feeling the need to trade with others. Buying a hodgepodge of miniatures is stupid, but unless a company like Reaper makes a piece you want, you get ahold of the piece from a company that is out of production, or you can convert what you want, what do you do?
