We play Mirror Image per the FAQ. Which basically means when someone casts Mirror Image, the images are not spread out in their own seperate squares as the PHB suggest. All mirror images, and the caster of mirror image, all occupy the same square as the FAQ suggests. Now given that this is how my group plays it (and this is what I need a refresher on), one way to sort of negate Mirror Image is to close your eyes. What this does is, instead of giving you a 25% chance to hit the real target (assuming 3 images + the caster = 4 targets) you have a 50% chance of hitting him. Now, the images also have their own AC as well (I beleive AC 10 IIRC), so when you attack the caster, and miss because of Mirror Image, you have a chance of popping one of the images. My question is, if you close your eyes and miss the target, is there a chance you can pop one of his images? This is the progression how we usually play it: 1) Attack caster w/ Mirror Images up 2) Make Attack roll 3) DM checks to see if Attack roll hits caster's AC 4a) If the attack would hit the caster's AC, then we see if the attacker really hit the caster or one of his images. Randomly roll to see if it was an image we hit, or the caster. 4a-1) If the roll comes up caster, roll damage normally. 4b-1) If the roll comes up image, double check to make sure the attack would hit the image's AC (in most cases it would) and pop an image. 4b) If the attacker would miss the caster's AC, then we see if it would hit an image. 4b-1) If the attacker misses the image's AC, nothing happens, it was just a bad attack roll 4b-2) If the attacker hits th image's AC, he pops an image It looks like many steps on paper (err, message board), but is really very quick in game. My core question relates to this because if you have your eye's closed and miss the attacker not because of the 50% miss chance from concealment, but because of a low attack roll (which may be high enough of a roll to hit an image), do you still go to the "randomly determine if you hit the caster or image" part of the equation? I guess when it comes down to it, even if your eyes are closed, the images are still there, you just can't see them, right? Hence the 50% miss chance due to concealment.
