Mirthcard won our "wager"...

Over a YEAR ago, Mirthcard and I had a wager in this thread:

http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18380&page=5&pp=40

I bet that the WotC setting winner would definitely be a "post- apocalyptic" setting.

Anyway Ebboron looks like a LOT of things, but post apocalyptic does not seem like one of them.

I publically and officially recognize Mirthcards superior precognition in this matter, and submit my tail for storage between my legs...

Mirth, take your pick of any book from my trade list below, and email me your mailing address.

Heh. Funny thing, BFG. I posted a link to that very same thread recently when the Eberron stuff appeared in Dragon and the big stink started. I had remembered the bet too, but just assumed you had forgotten about it.

You are truly a gentleman for honoring it, sir. And I am going to do the gentlemanly thing and let you off the hook. Instead, I would like for you to trade as many of those books in as it takes to get yourself a copy of Midnight, the best d20 setting I've seen (sure to be better than Eberron, although I've liked what I've seen of it also). Strangely enough, Midnight is the definition of post-apocalyptic.

Thank you BFG for being a true sport. You are a credit to ENWorld and its spirit of camaraderie.

Game on,

Jay

Thanks Jay! - But where I come from, a bet is a bet. I don't feel bad about losing the bet at all, especillay considering I'm really happy with what I've seen for Eberron so far.

I am already offering books from this list for entrants ( including late ones) to the SRD competition, so some of these books will be going to equally deserving ENWorld members - You might as well have first choice!

Especialy since I already have Midnight.

And Crown of Shadow.

And Against the Shadow.

Minions of Shadow is on order.

Most awesome.

I'll look for your email. ;)

BFG,

Well if you're determined to give me something... :D

I'll admit I've been wanting to give Kalamar a shot, so I'd gladly take the CS off your hands. I'll send you an email with my digits tomorrow.

Thanks again for your generosity and your steadfast honor,

Jay

Sounds Good Jay.

The writing was a bit dry in the Kalamar CS, but it is a very detailed
world, and comes with 2 large maps too...

PS- Minions of Shadow came in the mail today! I'm not sure why I was expecting a book of evil PrC's and such, but boy was I wrong - It's basically a monster book, and these baddies kick ass - some animals, some templates, and even some "good" creatures too...

I'll be looking for your email.

Best,

Joe

Thanks Joe :D I got back from vacation today and what should be waiting for me but the Kalamar CS. You're the best.

PS - Did you stop playing "cards" recently?

Nope :D

Since you asked, here's a long explanation that you probably don't really want to know ;)

My username stems from a comic book series by Matt Wagner called Mage. The series is based in Arthurian themes and in it Mirth is a legless homeless man who is also Merlin (in a sense). My avatar is a picture of Mirth from a Matt Wagner sketch.

In a big fight during the first part of the series, Mirth is apparently killed but actually lives on in a sort of magical etherealness (kinda like Obi-Wan). The only way that Kevin Matchstick (the Arthur analog) can access Mirth is through an ATM with a special card that Mirth had given him, hence mirthcard. It is also my email: mirthcard@yahoo.com.

After being on the boards for so long and people calling me Mirth anyway, I just decided to ask Piratecat to make the change for me. As a side note, my Half.com/eBay ID is edselbat, which is also taken from Mage. Edsel (a black woman who drives an ... Edsel) is the counterpart to Lancelot & The Lady of the Lake in the series and she uses a bat to fight with. The bat is Excalibur.

If I had the money, I would license the Mage series and make a d20 Modern campaign out of it. It is tailormade for that system. Plus, I know Matt personally from meeting him at a con and trading emails with him for awhile (although I've lost touch with him).

Anyway, that's the whole story. Although I should probably add that I'm currently finishing my Master's degree in Literature with a focus on Celtic and Arthurian literature.

Way more than you wanted to know, eh Joe?
