I saw it the day that it opened in IMAX and loved it. To me it's the best movie in the series and the only one that feels like a team movie. Tom Cruise is still definitely the star but Paula Patton, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner arent just window dressing. Each of the team members have a definitive story arc (some larger than others) and the action set pieces (particularly the team's arrival in Dubai) start with a slow build and then just escalate from there. The sequence with Ethan scaling the Burj Kalifa in Dubai is AMAZING on the IMAX screen. If you have any issues with heights AT ALL dont see this on the IMAX screen. There's one shot in particular when Ethan is about to step out of the open window and the IMAX camera is over his shoulder looking down as HE looks down and the sense of vertigo was strong. And I dont have that big of an issue with heights. The villain of the movie is driven by a purpose that we are told about but never really made to understand, so that might be an issue for some people but other than that this movie really has no fat. For an two hour running time it's pretty lean and action packed and Ethan Hunt takes a bit of a beating in this one. More so than in any of the other M:I films. In M:I 3 he takes a pummeling from Owen Davian but the effects are kind of negligible. In this one he's banged up and it definitely shows. It's my favorite of the M:I films with 3 coming next then 1. I really try very hard to forget that the 2nd M:I film exists at all. 9/10
