MM III Which are your favourites?

Hi,

I've had this book since it came out but haven't really read it properly -- I'm sure I've missed a few cool creatures. Which are your favourite monsters in the book and why?

Cheers

I enjoy the warforged variants.

One of the GM's I play with had a monster from the book, whose name I can't remember, where it's claws shoot out to like 10'. Very cool encounter.

I've been reading this thing, and.. ooooooh. It may be the first monster book I buy since the Monster Manual! :)

I'm liking this stuff.

War Troll has to be my favorite so far. This thing is an unbelieveable killing machine, and may be actually CR'ed well for it's power, unlike many creatures. Regen 9, regens from fire, strength and constitution of a little demigod - Heck, I could see adventurers fighting to hire this guy for the 30gp a day listed in the book.

Astral Stalker - I could play a "Most dangerous Game" scenario with this guy. Nice.

Arrow Demon - the image captivates my mind. I like 'im - that, and the peppering with missiles he can do to a party. I could just see the PCs get hit at range a half-dozen times simultaneously, wonder what the heck that was, thinking it's a squad of archers - and finding ONE demon shooting arrows like some "Van Helsing Crossbow."

Warforged Scouts & Chargers - Keith Baker mentioned different types of warforged, and I'm glad to see a couple of them! I know one player who would like to play a Warforged scout right now.

The Battletitan Dino and the Gerivar - just what I needed - miniature tarrasques that are just the right challenge level for mid to high level PCs.

One crazy example - the Drowned - a medium undead with TWENTY hit dice!?!?!?! Good Gravy!!!! What's he packin', besides water???

The half-dozen trolls are nice, too. "Wonderful. They have a CAVE troll." :)

NYCADAEMONS and ULTRADAEMONS and MEZZODAEMONS return! YESSS!!!

All in all, too nice to go unnoticed, and definitely a better variety of generic challenges than the MM2 or the Fiend Folio - I have only used ONE creature from the MM2 or FF ever! This one, I can't decide what to :):):):) my players up with first.

Trilloch, because the concept has always been great, but for the first time they actually work within the system.

Shadesteel golem, because necromancers and undead need allies who make up for their weaknesses at high levels, and the idea is just cool.

Those are my favorites, give or take several dozen.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to springing a spectral rat swarm on my players - as soon as I get to DM ... :D

Oh, and though they're a reprint from the ECS, I weep with longing for the living spells.

I like the Naztharune Rakshasa. It’s absolutely deadly. Add a few levels of psiwarrior and you have a killing machine.

The Astral Stalker is very cool. Once again Wayne Reynolds outdoes himself.

JoeGKushner, I think your are referring to the Boneclaw. Nasty!

The Dracotaur has a lot of flavor especially when combined with the Blackscale Lizardfolk and the Poison Shadow Lizardfolk.

The new giants are indeed very cool. The Sand Giants are my favorites.

The Shadesteel Golem kicks ass.

Last but not least the Ultraloth - Yugoloth is nice to see.
