I've been reading this thing, and.. ooooooh. It may be the first monster book I buy since the Monster Manual! :) I'm liking this stuff. War Troll has to be my favorite so far. This thing is an unbelieveable killing machine, and may be actually CR'ed well for it's power, unlike many creatures. Regen 9, regens from fire, strength and constitution of a little demigod - Heck, I could see adventurers fighting to hire this guy for the 30gp a day listed in the book. Astral Stalker - I could play a "Most dangerous Game" scenario with this guy. Nice. Arrow Demon - the image captivates my mind. I like 'im - that, and the peppering with missiles he can do to a party. I could just see the PCs get hit at range a half-dozen times simultaneously, wonder what the heck that was, thinking it's a squad of archers - and finding ONE demon shooting arrows like some "Van Helsing Crossbow." Warforged Scouts & Chargers - Keith Baker mentioned different types of warforged, and I'm glad to see a couple of them! I know one player who would like to play a Warforged scout right now. The Battletitan Dino and the Gerivar - just what I needed - miniature tarrasques that are just the right challenge level for mid to high level PCs. One crazy example - the Drowned - a medium undead with TWENTY hit dice!?!?!?! Good Gravy!!!! What's he packin', besides water??? The half-dozen trolls are nice, too. "Wonderful. They have a CAVE troll." :) NYCADAEMONS and ULTRADAEMONS and MEZZODAEMONS return! YESSS!!! All in all, too nice to go unnoticed, and definitely a better variety of generic challenges than the MM2 or the Fiend Folio - I have only used ONE creature from the MM2 or FF ever! This one, I can't decide what to :):):):) my players up with first.
