Keia, except for a few parts, his background is okay. Some things that don't jive are (not your fault, there is just so much info that needs to pass back and forth): 1) His age, not sure how you want to adjust this, I'll give you a more detailed Time line. The war started in March 2004, the draft went into effect in September of 2004. Absolution started affecting people in late 2006, early 2007. It made its way across the Ocean to the United States in the middle of 2007. It spread like wild-fire, if your familiar with the Virgin Field theory, you see where my percentages of the worlds population isn't too teribly out of wack (90-95 of the American Indians died from European sicknesses when they got hit by this phenomenon). The vaccination was discovered in 2009, and administered over the next year as people flocked to what would later be called Hope. Working backwards, the oldest are 7 when the War starts, and 17 when they are frozen. The youngest are 5 when the War starts, 15 when they are frozen. He would be 10 when he received the Vaccine in 2009, so that makes him 15 at the start of the game, and only 5 when the war started 2) Absolution is 95% or so contagious, if his sister had it, everyone on-board the transport would, so most likely she just was sick in general, and they killed an innocent little girl (definitely fits in with the mood of panic and desperation). Same with your mother, if she had, your entire community had it, unless she knew what was happening to her and barricaded herself away from everyone. 3)When he went back to Hope, he would have been 10, not old enough for a job, he would have been boarded at one of the over-crowded orphanages since most people sent their children first. Having Josiah exploring some of the buildings in Washington is fine, but he wont have had the job. 4)The role of the first person to be examined with the mutated Absolution, is taken, none of the teenagers with the mutated version are famous because of it, in an effort to de-humanize in case euthenasia was required, the only records of the phenomon was a patient number, no records with names were kept. All of the Characters were in batch 4, numbers 00150 to 00200.
