I was gearing up to run a slightly altered version of d20 Modern for my tabletop, but I think I am going to run with a 7th Sea for the time being instead. I still have these ideas sitting in my head though and am interested in working with them. Here's the basic premise below. If I seem to garner any interest in the game, I'll post more about how I intend to alter the system and more on character creation. If I decide to run the game, I'll very likely run it off of my personal website, which grants me quite a bit more control over functionality of the game. The game would start in near future/modern day Earth. Characters in the game would be part of a special forces unit, some sort of black bag operation, kind of like Delta Force, which gives a little bit more freedom to character development in terms of which service you are in, or allowing for paramilitary intelligence-type characters. The group would be part of a covert organization, formed to stomp out terrorists. The game would likely begin in Iraq or Afghanistan, but will move on to other areas of the world as the game progresses and we divurge from current affairs a bit. Due to the nature of the characters, I would probably start them out around 5th or 6th level, and maybe throw in some free feats to represent spec ops training. The main area of the game I would alter would be damage/hitpoints. While I want the game to remain a bit cinematic in scope, I want bullets to have the potential to kill you. I also don't want characters dying every session. I think I've come up with a pretty easy solution and it would be pretty seamless for the players. I intend to have the game be a bit more investigative, rather than straight hack n slash, though there will definately be some hairy combat. Sound interesting to anyone?
