I've been running this character/template in a game of mine for mine for a while now and thought I'd share it here: It's really just the standard Half-Dragon Template from the MM but with the following changes: LA: +3 (Remains the same) Breath Weapon (1): First change the amount of Damage the Breath Weapon does to 1d6 for the Total Class level of the Character divided by two. That's 1d6 per 2 levels. Normally it does 6d8 throughout the character's career. This change will weaken the damage done for most of the early levels, (The character will only get 8d6 at level 16 which would be at ECL 19) but it opens the possibility of the Breath Weapon being useful into Epic levels. Plus it helps demonstrate growth in terms of ability usage. Breath Weapon (2): Second change the DC of the breath weapon from: 10 + 1/2 Racial HD + Con Mod to: 10 + 1/2 HD (Class Level) + Con Mod Essentially Your trading Damage Potential for being more likely to hit with the Weapon, through out your career. Wings (1): At Level 9 (ECL 12) The Half-Dragon gets the Dragon Wings feat (From Races of Dragon page 100) for free. This allows the Half-Dragon a to glide, a + 10 jump bonus and to prevent/negate falling damage. Normally a Medium Half-Dragon gets either no wings or vestigial wings. This feat by itself does not allow the Half-Dragon to actually fly. This bonus feat does allow the Half dragon to qualify for the Improved Dragon Wings feat (From Races of Dragon page 100) at a later level (which they would have to use their own feet slot for) which does allow them some flight (However by level 12 everyone should have access to flight spells in some form or another.) The main reason behind these changes were to keep the Breath weapon abilities of the Half-Dragon relavant and useful through out the PC's career. The addition of wings was partly because I always felt that PC's were gyped regarding them. So far it's turning out nicely but I have not hit level 9 yet so.... Opinions would be appreciated particularly whether you guys think it is still worth a +3 LA?
