Hi guys,
The second supplement for the Armageddon 2089 Total War RPG, Earth 2089, should be appearing in your local stores throughout this week. This is the tome that describes the political situation of the Armageddon War in fine detail, and so will be essential reading for GMs and players interested in moving beyond their WarMeks and becoming real 'players' in the mercenary market.
Written by Mongoose house writer Alejandro Melchor, Earth 2089 is 128 pages of full colour, with presentation every equal to the main rulebook.
Kicking off with a timeline of major events leading up to the Armageddon War and a more detailed overview of how the major nations of the world came to blows. This is interspersed with IWN news reports (which often give a far more detailed, yet more subtle, view of events than the main text) and perspectives from all corners of the globe.
As one of the main protagonists, Europe comes under the microscope first with a look at how the Federation arose, the rise of Euroforce, the present government and a detailed look at the individual member states. Also included are game stats for important NPCs (such as Brigadier Richard Drake, Commander of the British Army of Independence) and regular soldiers/Mek pilots (reflecting each country's own emphasis on training and operations) as well as important maps.
Similar chapters detail the very different histories and present day dispositions of North America, Asia, South and Central America, the Middle East and 'Fragmentistan', Africa and Oceania.
This is followed by a look at the largest corporations of the world, greatly expanding on the information within the main rulebook. Prestige classes are also presented, allowing players to join the famed Taipei Mek Academy, the Berbintang Terang, General Defence, Sandhurst and the Universitat Der Bundeswehr.
Finishing with a full index and the cover of the latest issue of Which WarMek? (which, contrary to rumour, we are not going to start producing - Which WarMek is getting its own column in Signs & Portents instead!), Earth 2089 is jam-packed full of background and scenario tools for the Games Master and players, allowing them to flesh out locations and characters as never before. It really is the 'Bible' of the Armageddon War.
Earth 2089 will be available in shops this week (and at Gen Con too!) and is priced at $24.95.
