Hi guys,

The latest release for the Armageddon 2089 RPG, High Frontier, is now shipping and will be appearing in local stores about this time next week.

High Frontier is a 128 page rules supplement that will take your campaigns into the sky, providing all you need for bombers, attack fighters and upwards into the conflict that rages in low orbit. No longer does your mercenary company have to be Earth-bound!

Kicking off with The Sky and Beyond, High Frontier introduces players to the dynamics of aerial and space-based combat, from the troposphere to lunar orbit, as well as the basics of flight. The continuing space race is charted, with a timeline stretching from 1910 to 2089, focussing on the progression of space-based technologies with the inception of the Armageddon War.

Living in Space provides all the rules needed for characters to leave the ground, as well as the effect of this hostile environment upon the human body - including the dangers of vacuum, low gravity and the 'weather' in space (debris, solar winds, space storms, micro-meteorites and NEOs).

This is followed by Space Agencies, an inspection of those military, governmental and corporate bodies with vested interests in orbital space (and beyond), from the revitalised ESA to IPEx. Alejandro Melchor has outdone himself with the background material in this section, and many astronomers reading this chapter will feel very much at home with the procedures and projects outlined here. The main launch sites dotted around the world are also detailed - there are some familiar faces here and many more that are new for the Armageddon War.

The Orbital Neighbourhood looks at humanity's foothold in space, detailing the various space stations that are already in orbit or on the Moon, from Artemis Base to Yeager Station. The Hubble Telescope is still in service in 2089, though a relic of the past, and it is joined with other noted constructions as the Hephaestos Spaceyard, SOHO II and Verne Station. Satellite Networks, of vital importance to the more well developed mercenary companies on the ground are also covered, with extended rules for players looking to develop this side of their group's capabilities. From comms to orbital strikes, satellites will most certainly become the new battleground in the Armageddon War, supporting the Earthside WarMeks. By 2089, most of humanity's focus on space is still concentrated round the orbit of Earth, but missions are being addressed to continue the reconnaissance of the other planets and greedy governments and corporations are keen to extend their hold to other worlds.

Personnel looks at the air forces of the world and their supplementary mercenary forces. Here players will find all the rules they need to create a Mercenary Wing whose capabilities are concentrated either in space or in the air, leaving their Earth-bound counterparts far below. Players may either begin a campaign with such a force, or may decide to extend the capabilities of their WarMeks with the addition of a small squadron of craft. To aid them in this, a new set of prestige classes are introduced to take full advantage of the new rules in High Frontier, such as the Ace Pilot or Aerospace Gunner. New feats and equipment will also extend a character's survivability in this new arena of war.

Aerospace Combat provides all the rules players will need to take the Armageddon War to stratospheric heights and beyond. They will have to contend with G-LOC and the fact that when their vehicle suffers critical damage, they may not always have the option to simply step out. . . There are plenty of manoeuvres for players to try in an attempt to outwit their enemies, and full rules have been provided for providing ground support to the fighting WarMeks, from simple attack runs to orbital bombardment. It is fairly scary stuff, even in a war where Tac-Nukes can rapidly become a weapon of choice. Personal combat is also covered for low gravity environments, for those times when players are deprived of their vehicles and must engage the enemy on board one of the space stations or even the Moon.

The Aircraft and Spacecraft chapter is the tech-head's dream - a full listing of all the new technologies and vehicles that are being employed in the higher reaches of the Armageddon War, from the Boeing E-5 Omni intelligence aircraft to the Eurofighter EF-2065 Cyclone, one of the latest generation of fighter aircraft. Dropships, bombers, rotor aircraft, tilt-rotors, shuttles, and orbital manoeuvring craft are all covered. Quickly following on from this is, of course, the Aerospace Vehicle Creation chapter, allowing players to customise existing designs or commission their own completely new weapons of war.

The last chapter, Aerospace Technology, details the weapons and systems of these new vehicles and, again, there are plenty of new toys for players to get their teeth into. From simple unguided bombs (still a cheap and very effective way to deal destruction to the enemy) to advanced missiles, ion cannon and the largest nuclear arsenal we have yet covered in A2089. Have fun with the explosions! The book ends with a complete index, helping you navigate through the new systems and rules.

So, don't be tied to the ground in the Armageddon War. High Frontier contains everything you need to take to the skies and rain death upon the enemy from miles away.

High Frontier will be available in about a week's time from your local stores, priced at $21.95.
