[Mongoose] Chaos Magic: Errata?

I don't know if it needs to be errata'ed, but I'm having some problem following the two sample spells. The spells seem to follow a different set of rules than is given for creating spells.

For instance, the spell to teleport an ally to a flanking position gives a casting DC of 10, and yet the minor movement effect has a casting DC of 15. What happened to the other 5? Also, the distance for minor movement effects in the examples is listed as 25 + 5 per level, but in the custom build section, it's listed as 25 plus 5 per TWO levels.

So, are there errata coming out?

Hi guys,

This is a case of just one little mistake. . . :)

The DCs for these effects in the rules text is correct - it is the example which is a little squiffy, due to a change made in the rules through playtesting.

Sam Witt, the author of Chaos Magic, is currently working on a web enhancement (which will be a free download) that will clear this little query up - as well as add a whole bunch of new example spells and a few other odds and ends that did not make it into the original manuscript due to space considerations. We have also discussed running a competition of sorts, whereby players can submit their own example spells of the most devilish magicks they have come up with through the Chaos Magic system - the winners will no doubt get a free book or two, as well have their name (or their character's) immortalised in the name of the winning spells themselves.

Stay tuned for more details!

Hi there,

Yes, it is indeed coming along - Sam Witt is just finishing off another Quintessential book and then he will be concentrating on the Chaos Magic web enhancement!
