(Mongoose) d20 Modern RPG - MWWG!

Hi guys,

I'll apologise in advance - we just could not resist doing this one.

In August this year, Mongoose Publishing will be proud to release a brand new version of Macho Women with Guns, freshly licenced from Greg Porter. This will be our first full blown roleplaying game that will support the d20 Modern set of rules.

For those of you a little newer to roleplaying than others, Macho Women with Guns was first released by BTRC in 1988 and was something of a hit - it is certainly a well (and perhaps fondly?) remembered RPG. It was not entirely serious and released as a 12 page black and white booklet that went on to spawn several updates and expansions. In a nutshell, MWWG is all about very heroic women wileding improbably huge weaponry as they seek to defend the world from all manner of nasties, critters and bug-eyed aliens.

Well, after the success of James Desborough's Slauer's Guide to Female Gamers and his recent Encyclopaedia Arcane: Nymphology, who better to write a game of this sort? Coming as a full colour (think of the artwork!) hardback, the all new Macho Women with Guns has all the old favourites including, yes, Renegade Nuns of Wheels and Batwinged Bimbos from Hell - but we are adding a few new surprises as well! A complete post-apocalyptic setting is included in the main rulebook, but you will also have full guidelines for running MWWG in fantasy, modern and science fiction settings. Because, after all, Macho Women with large weapons have a place in every genre.

This is an excellent beer and pretzels game and we are very grateful to Greg for allowing us to fiddle with his creation, and bring it bang up to date with d20 Modern!

More news as it comes. . .

Congratulations!

I'm sure it'll be great. I hope you get the spirit of the game right. In other words, you should shamelessly pilfer OGL content from other companies, and make fun of it. Heck, make fun of non-D20 games. Steal rules elements from Rifts, from Vampire, from clicky-games. Heck, make sure you steal something from Nobilis. The original MWWG had lots of shamelessly pilfered content, but who remembers Renegade Legion: Interceptor? Well, I do, but that's beside the point.

Oh, and do we really need 6 stats for MWWG? Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Macho, that's all you need. You should have Strong Heroines (or Bimbos, or Nuns, or whatever), Fast Heroines, Tough Heroines, and Macho Heroines.

And don't leave out stand-up cardboard pieces. If you do, yea, the Lord shalt smite thee.

One more thing, did the license come with Walker Wars? Of course, geriatric D20 characters are still pretty badass. More like Cohen the Barbarian and his "horde" than characters from Walker Wars.

I could have lived a long time without seeing Runs in High Heels as a feat. :)

Wasn't that available as a skill in Unknown Armies? I certainly seem to remember that the first edition rulebook of UA had an NPC with that particular ability.

Doesn't count. UA was a 'make your own skill' system, just like OTE.

You also need the Looks stat. How else are you going to get the heroines' vital stats?

I take it you will be kidnapping the comissioning art editor from Avalanche Press to assist on this project?
You mean the artists who do the Heavy Metal comic magazines?

That reminds me, I gotta get myself a new issue. :D

P.S. Here's hoping Sabrina Fox (Remember the 80's?) or Geri Halliwell pose for the cover. You see! Not all Brit Babes have bad teeth! LOL :p

Hmm. Calculate it from an arcane formula involving square roots, using ALL the stats, of course. And maybe have it all factor into some kind arcane Combat Rating, which is completely inaccurate because non-combat things affect the cost more than Combat things.

Can anyone figure out what game system I'm referring to? :)
