Hi guys,
Time for a summary of what is coming up in the next few weeks from Mongoose Publishing.
First off - it looks like the new web site is up and running, and very nice it looks too. There is bags more utility in this site, so updates from us will become more frequent, more accurate and, well, just more!
A quick word about the online store - yes, you can now order direct from Mongoose Publishing for any of those hard to find books, no matter where you are in the world. However, please, please, please go to your local games store instead! We would much rather you did that than come direct to us, for many reasons. Support your local games store - without them, there would not be much of a hobby. Please only come to us if you are having real trouble finding a particular title. On that note, ordering books that are not yet released will not get them to you any quicker - in many cases, you will get your hands on them first if you visit your local games store. . .
Anyway, on to the releases for March!
Armageddon 2089 - Total War RPG
This is the big one - a full blown RPG from Mongoose Publishing, weighing in at 304 pages with full colour CGI art of the Meks throughout! WarMeks have transformed the modern battlefield. Carrying as much armour as a battle tank but with more weaponry and far greater flexibility and manoeuvrability, they can be landed by ship or submersible and then operate for days behind enemy lines. The Armageddon 2089 roleplaying game presents the most dynamic and detailed d20 System rules yet released, modelling real world physics with incredible fidelity. Real world scientists and high technologists were consulted during the creation of these rules, ensuring the technical and political extrapolation are as realistic as possible, making Armageddon 2089 the game for roleplayers looking for hyper-reality in their campaigns. As well as providing everything players need to simulate combat between WarMeks, Armageddon 2089 is a complete setting in which to base many scenarios. Supported as only Mongoose Publishing can do so, the Armageddon 2089 line features many new supplements and sourcebooks, including Armoured Companies, bringing the power of tanks and artillery to the game, and the Soldier’s Companion, introducing new rules and scenarios for special forces and espionage squads. The High Frontier expands the war far beyond the boundaries of Earth itself, to colonies and outposts throughout the Solar System. Add to this a range of forthcoming novels detailing the major battles and events of the war, and Armageddon 2089 becomes one of the most complete settings available in the roleplaying market.
War Machines of 2089
Featuring over 50 new WarMeks ready to be inserted into your games and campaigns of Armageddon 2089, War Machines of 2089 is an essential companion to the new game, containing new rules for more specialised WarMeks, detailed information on the corporations behind the designs and new ways to improve your workshops. War in 2089 just became a lot deadlier.
The Quintessential Barbarian
Without a doubt the toughest of all character classes, the Barbarian gets his spoils in the Quintessential Barbarian. With all new Character Concepts and Prestige Classes permitting any character to be tweaked, to guidelines on how to amass a horde, survive in the wilderness and use rage abilities to an exceptional degree, The Quintessential Barbarian has everything players of this class have been waiting for.
Encyclopaedia Arcane: Dragon Magic
Arcane magic has its very roots vested in the power of dragons and their kin. By studying the ancient lore of Dragon Magic, a mage can unlock the secrets only known to these powerful reptiles, allowing him to stand as an equal among wyrms and as lord over other men. From the few True Words and draconic songs to the harvesting of dragon body parts and the procedure of becoming a Dragon Friend, this addition to the Encyclopaedia Arcane is perhaps one of the most powerful - but its discipline and traditions are not easily discovered, nor mastered by the weak of will, for few dragons will tolerate their secrets learnt by the younger races.
The Falians
A new tribe book for the Slaine RPG! Unlike the other Earth Goddess Tribes, the folk of the Tribe of the Shadows place little importance on directness as a virtue. They will happily sneak up behind an enemy and strangle him, not thinking it the least bit dishonourable. Before an army brings them to battle, they may find the general assassinated and warriors out of action through a dose of hallucinogenic fungi in the mead cauldron. Once in combat they will not shirk from stabbing in the back if the opportunity arises, but their courage on the open battlefield is no less than that of any other Earth Goddess tribe and they will proudly fight to the death in honour duels or battles alike. If they decide to attack in return, be sure that this too will be no fair fight, though again the Tribe of the Shadows find it perfectly in keeping with their honour to leap town walls in the dead of night and burn the place down - women, children and all. If they are at war with a tribe, they are at war with the whole tribe; there are no innocents. However, most are not deliberately cruel and will certainly not go out of their way to attack a non-warrior – they will just not worry overmuch about the casualties of war. The Tribe of the Shadows is also often known as the Falians, perhaps referring to their great city of Falias. Some say that the name ‘Falians’ is the older of the two, and that they have only been known as the Tribe of the Shadows after suffering a dreadful curse at the hands of the Earth Goddess, though the precise details are uncertain. In any event they are now known almost universally as the Tribe of the Shadows, or simply ‘Shadows,’ on account of their habit of painting their bodies and shields alike jet black and shunning the daylight.
