Another book out for you this week - The Finians, the latest tribes book for the Slaine RPG. Written by Ian Sturrock, this supplement completes the detailed information on the player tribes covered in the main rulebook.
The book kicks off with a look at the history and traditions of the Finian tribe, their ways of choosing a king and the tales of the Fianna, the most famed of all Finian warriors. Known as the Tribe That Endures, the Finians has a new range of character concepts to add to characters from these people, giving players a whole new range of options that now places them on a level playing field with the Sessair, Falians and Fir. These include the druidic Icebreaker, Fiosaiche (one with the Second Sight), Murk Lurker, Cannibal, Highlander, Warrior-Witch and Taibhsear (spectre-haunted). Experienced players may also try their hand with the legendary Fianna Warrior prestige class. Alternatively, they may travel to the warrior-women of Alba to learn new fighting styles from the military academies.
New Feats such as Second Sight and Whirring Sling will make Finian characters more than a touch unique among a party, while Magic of the Finians makes the tribe as a whole stand out. With new spells such as Sign of the Moorland and Trance of the Second Sight, both druids and witches of the Finians are now a force to be reckoned with.
Folk of the Finians looks at some of the major personalities of the tribe, giving a complete break down of their history and gaming statistics, as well as several scenario hooks to get them in your games quickly and easily - there is nothing like meeting comic book characters for real!
The supplement winds up with the Finian Reference Tables, which provides a list of several NPCs, from Clan Chieftains to common warriors and druids, saving the GM a great deal of work in building Finian characters for players to meet (and fight against?).
