First Post
The Quintessential series of character books, one of the best-selling D20 series is back and better than ever! Developed by Italian studio Asterion and completely re-written for 4th edition, the series kicks off with the Quintessential Wizard, which will be in stores in the first week of November.

Raw magic power: the essence of all true fantasy role-playing games. In a world where magic permeates all aspects of daily life, a wizard is the undisputed lord of arcane lore. If you think that a wizard’s only way to express his true might is by casting a mundane fireball, take a look at THE QUINTESSENTIAL WIZARD and think again!

In this book you will find a brand-new origins system, over 70 new powers, new rituals, 14 paragon paths, new feats, four new arcane implements, and many magic items specifically designed for arcane casters, including runes. Your wizard will be truly unique and will be able to choose from a wide range of options. This book also features guidelines to play your wizard in combat and non-combat situations, organisations that may help or hinder your efforts, and new rules to build your perfect mansion, a magical tower to keep all your treasures and secrets.

Quickly following The Quintessential Wizard will be the Quintessential Fighter in December, Rogue in January, with more to follow throughout 2009.

Looks very cool; I love ice-themed stuff.

But I'm not understanding the numbers in Kestra's ice bridge . . . is it supposed to be using the same math as the paragon path utility, or is it different?

Okay, Matt. You're getting one book to win me over... The 3E Quint books were definitely hit or miss, and many of them were very guilty of the early 3E "power creep". If you can pull this off, I'll buy the next book, too.

Just please, I beg you... don't make them a monthly series like the 3E ones were for a while. That actually caused me to stop buying them, because there were just too many too fast.

Preview looks great, though. I look forward to checking it out.

I have to agree the Quint books are seen as the most overpowered 3pp books. I will check this one out. Since I have VERY high hopes for wraith con, and love 4e so far...count me in for trying it out...

Very interesting ...
I have thoroughly followed the previous lines of quintessential (I & II), and I must say that I find the new look decidedly improved...
...and cryomancer is too cool!

Wizard, Fighter, Rogue ... and the cleric?
I want the cleric!

Greetings!
I'm Fabio Passamonti, co-author of 4E "The Quintessential Fighter".
First of all, I reassure all fans from the previous line, the new publishing series won't miss anything of the original Quintessential mood; rather, the whole introduced material will be to the insignia of the single-class-at-a-time close examination.

All novelties introduced by D&D fourth edition will be deepened, with particular attention on powers, feats, paragon paths and equipment.

Aiming to get the best balance between the rules and the narrative background, the manual includes paragraphs on origins, lifestyle and all of this, normally left to players' imagination.

Oh, I have no problem with the mood. That part is fine... The problem I had with the former line was that it started the power creep of 3E. The feats in there became "must have" for players because they were so much better than the ones in the PHB. I had to eventually ban all feats from Quint books because I wanted some semblence of stability. In 4E, feats are NOT powerful like 3E was. I'd like to keep it that way...

Looking forward to checking things out though...

Hi, this is Marco Picone from Asterion Press. In the new Quintessential line, we've tried to stick to the D&D 4E unwritten rules about feats. They have been revised several times before printing, to ensure they weren't too powerful and "must have". I hope you'll like the result!
