monk bab

Being the rules guy at my game, (and DM) I was kind of surprised when I heard of some players in another game trying to get thier DM to let a F1/M9 BAB stack Now as a monk, his unarmed BAB is +6/+3. His regular BAB is +7/+2. They were trying to get their DM to say the +1 BAB for the fighter will stack with the +6/+3 and make it +7/+4/+1. Now While I know this is not the case, I took a look under the multiclassing rules in the PHB and noticed something. I think the way it is worded, the base attack does stack, but the additional attacks, do not. The player has a choice of using the base attack's add'l or the unarmed add'l. At this point it dosen't mean much, but next level of monk. F1/m10 he would have the choice of +8/+3 or +8/+4/+1. Does this seem right to everyone, or am I missing something..?
