Monster "Flavor" Tags...

So when a monster has good flavor it's really awesome- I start dreaming about all the various adventures it would fit into perfectly...

Unfortunately, because of the amount of monsters, and my terrible memory when I'm writing an adventure, I tend to forget the "perfect" monster for it.

It tends to be along the lines of: "Ohhh an evil wizard has trapped the elven queen in a never ending nightmare. In the forest leading to her palace the pcs face... ORCS!"

I think it would be awesome if the Monster Builder or the compendium had a separate searchable tag field just for flavor key words- stuff that doesn't necessarily relate to rules, but is in the flavor.

Anyone else agree?

Maybe if enough people agree they'll add that function... In like 2037 just after they make it so you can actually you know BUILD Monsters... (oooooh The Jester I stole your line!!!)

Hmmm I know the offline builder lets you search by keyword (aberrant, undead, magical, etc.) not sure about the compendium though. I guess my question would be what do you mean by "flavor" or are you referring to an ability for us to put our own tags into it (which would be much cooler but would also require them to grant us storage space -- not sure if that is their plan with the builder/compendium or not).

All that being said, I would love to be able to put my own tags on monsters and search by those tags and if the online builder doesn't yet allow for searching by keyword then I would definitely say that should be added.

Those would be rule keywords though, not what I'm talking about (although they are helpful)

I guess my question would be what do you mean by "flavor"

Meaning the flavor text: For instance the oblivion moss's flavor text talks about how someone can eat part of it and get stored memories

So keywords like Stored Memories, or just memories would work.

It also talks about how Dryad's and teants cultivate them, so putting dryad, or treant as keywords would be helpful.

Key words are entirely the wrong way to do this.

Just ask for full-text searching of monster flavor text. It'd be less work and it would work better.
