Monster Hunter

I was thinking about the show Ahh! Real Monsters when I decided that a character like Simon the monster hunter might be usefull in a campaign setting as a villian. So I came up with the Monster Hunter prestige class for that purpose. This is the Monster Hunter prestige class.

Monster Hunter

"There are those who call themselves 'monster hunters' because they slay those creatures that actively try to harm us. There are those who call themselves 'dragon slayers' because they kill those drakes who knock down our buildings, burn our parks, and terrorize our cities. But enough of those week willed wimps, bleeding hearts, 'humanitarians', and sissy boys who differentiate between 'good' and evil monsters. None of them have the will or courage to wipe off the face of the earth the Monstrous Humanoids, Aberrations, Dragons, and 'Magical Beasts' that plague our world like vermin. Some people look at those foul unicorns and say, 'Look at that beautiful unicorn with it‘s foals', while I say, 'Kill or capture it and the rest of their kind before they kill us'. Some people admire gold dragons for their wisdom, I say, 'It‘s a dragon, kill it'. Hunt the gold with the red, the white with the silver, the copper with the blue, and the white unicorn with black unicorn.

Class Features:

Anyone choosing the path of the Monster Hunter must pick one enemy that he despises above the rest.

Must have ONLY ONE major enemy when killing or capturing his/her victims. The rest are not considered major.

Specials/level of Monster Hunter:

*1st level Monster Hunter: Thrill of the hunt : When the Monster Hunter is going after his/her specific type of monster he gets +1 to strength for the time that that victim is being attacked. Only get +2 when it is the type of creature that the character picked as their main prey to go after. (They are focused on a specific type of creature.)
Sneak Attack: As the rogue class ability.

*2nd level Monster Hunter: Disguise Bonus: The monster can learn how to better infiltrate into to the societies of those whom he hunts. Because of this the monster hunter gains a +10 disguise bonus Every two levels. You must choose a new monster type per level.
*3rd level Monster Hunter: Psychotic Fortitude/ Willpower: When a Monster Hunter becomes third level, his/her fort/will saving throw increases by +2/+2 which adds with the fort/Will that you get from just getting the level. (The serial killer gains these bonus points because as he grows as a hunter, he becomes more tolerant to pain and more dedicated to his goal.)

*4th level Monster Hunter: Deceive Victim: You eventually learn how to gain and manipulate the trust of the monster race, you get +2 to your any roll when talking to the victim you chose. (The monster hunter has learned how to talk any monster into leading it to lair, field, or school. The monster hunter has made enough mistakes that the monster hunter knows what to say to someone, to betray them latter.)

*5th level Monster Hunter: Thrive off of the hunt: The monster hunter loses his/her dexterity bonus to armor class but gains a damage reduction of a 5/+2 for as long as he/she wishes to lose their dexterity bonus, up to ten times a day, 1/day. (This would be used usually when stalking their prey, and, that being is fighting back. He/she becomes more reckless, he becomes more intent on killing or capturing them, so if a struggle happens to happen they start to focus exclusively on his prey. Since you become more reckless you lose your dexterity bonus, but you get into such a fervor that you don't feel some weapons.)

*6th level Monster Hunter: Thrive off of the hunt: you lose your dexterity bonus to armor class but gain a damage reduction of a 5/+2, for as long as you wish to lose their dexterity bonus, up to 10 rounds at a time, 2/day.

Aura of despair: The Monster Hunter radiates a malign insane aura which causes enemies within 10 ft of him/her to suffer a minus 2 penalty to all Will Power saves. (The chilling effect of this person grows as his true self comes out. He switches into a completely different person, chills are brought to enemies around this “madman”. When he gets mad, everyone knows it, and it frightens them a great deal).

*7th level Monster Hunter: Thrive off of the hunt: The monster hunter loses his/her dexterity bonus to armor class but gains a damage reduction of a 5/+2, for as long as he wishes to lose his dexterity bonus, up to 10 rounds at a time, 3/day.

Paralyzing Strike: If the Monster Hunter studies his/her victims for 3 rounds then makes a sneak attack with a melee weapon(s) that successfully deals damage, the sneak attack has an additional effect of possibly paralyzing the target. The DC of this class ability is the same as the one for Death Attack on pg: 30 of the Dungeon Master's Guide. (The monster hunter has learned to be patient and study his victims. Finding out their weaknesses and capturing them are key in a monster hunter eyes)

*9th level Monster Hunter: Thrive off of the hunt: The monster hunter loses his/her dexterity bonus to armor class, but gains a damage reduction of a 5/+3 for as long as he/she wishes to lose their dexterity bonus, up to 15 rounds at a time, 4/day (The monster hunter is so focused on his task that, some weapons begin to not phase him as much as they use to. It seems like he will go at all costs to get to this monster whether someone is around or not. They might start getting lazy depending on how cocky his/her personality is.)

*10th level Monster Hunter: Thrive off of the hunt: He loses his dexterity bonus to armor class, but gains a damage reduction of a 5/+3 for as long as he wishes to lose their dexterity bonus, up to 15 rounds at a time, 5/day.

Your's Truly,
Simon the Monster Hunter."

I was thinking it was overpowered as usual, but then I noticed that one needs to have 37 class levels to take a level of this class, unless you use nonstandard base classes or other prestige classes that aren't coming to mind right now. This is largely because it apparently requires seven favored enemies (Ranger level 30), but 4d6 Sneak Attack takes a little while too.
