Monster Manual II and S&S's "Creature Collections"

Murrdox

First Post
I haven't yet bought MM II or the Swords and Sorcery Creature Collections - although I've been planning on buying both.

I heard a rumor awhile ago (can't find where now) that the Creature Collections were going to be combined into one volume, and published to be compatible with 3.5.

Can anyone confirm this? I'd feel really dumb putting $40 or so down on 2 Creature Collection volumes if they're going to be re-done within a few months.

Also, is WotC going to republish MM-2 to match the MM-1?

I can't find any news on any of this!

SSS is indeed publishing a Creature Collection Revised but I actually don't know if it is going to combine both CCs. http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/news/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1280 -- note that it has been delayed until around the time D&D 3.5 is released (July).

I don't know if we'll eventually see a MMII for 3.5 -- it already has some of the innovations I think we'll be seeing in the 3.5 MM -- the layout is clearer and doesn't break stat blocks over two pages very often; some of the explanatory material in the front is much clearer than its MM counterpart, it has ff and touch ACs listed for creatures, etc.

The Creature Collection Revised was meant to be only #1, IIRC. (Remember how many problems #1 had?)

MM2 is very unlikely to be revised in the near future (only if it sold extremely well and they consider it worthwhile reprinting).

None of the monsters in MM2 will stop working - some of them will have been constructed under obsolete rules, but the Challenge Ratings should be still mostly fine, so they'll work.

Cheers!

They were going to release CC I revised but have now delayed it till 3.5 is out. If I remember correctly that is I think they said it will be out shortly after 3.5 and be updated and revised versus before which was what their schedule originally was. I may be miss remembering though.
