[Monster Munchkin] An old goodie I found

Azure Trance

First Post
This is a monster which I made about 5 months ago. Someone commented on how interesting the Nimblewright from MM2 was (p163). For those who don't have it, it's essentially a construct bodyguard armed with two built in rapiers and very good at sword fighting. It's original stats are CR7, yet I found myself compelled to see how powerful this bugger could get since it has a lot of interesting bonuses. So, I present to you a new, improved, munchied, CR23 version (of DOOM) with character classes.

Since I'm not good at making monsters, I might've made mistakes here so feel free to correct me. As for the magical items, IIRC the ECL of the creature is also the character level used to determine wealth and that's what I ran with.

Nimblewright30/Ftr2/Tempest10: CR 23; ECL 42; Large-size Construct; HD 30d10+2d10+10d10; hp 215; Init +14; Spd 40 ft; AC 41 (+8 bracers of armor, +5 ring of protection, +10 Dex, +1 dodge, +9 natural); Melee +4 penetrating* shocking burst precision* scaling* rapier +44/+44/+44 (4d8+d6+13/crit 6-20/x3), +4 penetrating* flaming burst precision* scaling* rapier +44/+39/+34/+29 (4d8+d6+13/crit 6-20/x3); Face/Reach 5 ft. by 5 ft. / 10 ft.; SA spell-like abilities, tripping thrust; SQ augmented critical, construct traits, SR29, vulnerabilities; AL CN; SV Fort +14, Ref +31, Will +20; Str 36, Dex 30, Con -, Int 14, Wis 17, Cha 19.

Skills and Feats: Hide +4 (3), Listen +9 (10), Ride +11 (10), Spot +8 (9), Wilderness Lore +7 (8); Combat Reflexes (B), Dodge (B), Expertise (B), Improved Disarm (B), Mobility (B), Spring Attack (B), Improved Critical, Improved Initiative, Weapon Focus, Whirlwind, Parry**, Riposte**, Additional Magic Item Space^, Perfect Two Weapon Fighting^, Improved Whirlwind Attack^

He's good, I suppose... if you want to annex the Celestial plane and turn it into a parking lot.

My fighter would probably need a few buffs to take him (i.e. immortality, deific status, etc, etc.).

It's a very cool concept. How does he wear three rings, though?

For super gross CR breaking goodness use a Paragon template on a base Nimblewright. Without the weaknesses that the Niblewright has my 23rd lvl party would have literally never even effected it. Someone finnally got a fire effect through the Stupidly big Nimblewright SR and past the Fire Resistence. It was way harsh for a CR 19? by the book.

:p It has an epic feat called Additional Magic Item Space. I couldn't have him nerfed now could I? ;)

Heh! I feel for you man. How was he introduced to your party? And if it was placed on a default, 10HD Nimblewright a paragon would be CR22, so it seems just right for your party. I'm not sure if a paragon nimblewright is cheesier then my leveled one, so I'll have to stat him out ;)

THE POWER OF CHEEEEEEESEEEEEEE!

You were absolutely right. A paragon nimblewright is an utter monster. Using a maximum advanced nimblewright, everything gained from 12 character classes can easily be regained to an equal if not better value by the template - attributes, attack bonuses, especially the AC bonus, cold / fire resistance 20 and DR 20/+6. I couldn't help statting him with magical weapons, forgive me.

Paragon Nimblewright30: CR 23; ECL 30; Large-size Construct; HD 30d10, hp 660; Init +16; Spd 120 ft; AC 62 (+8 bracers of armor, +5 ring of protection, +12 insight, +12 luck, +16 Dex, +9 natural, +1 dodge, -1 size); Melee +1 flaming burst precision* double scaling* rapier of speed +65/+65/+60 (2d12+1d6+38/crit 12-20/x3 +2d10), +1 shocking burst precision* double scaling* rapier of speed +65/+65/+55 (2d12+1d6+38/crit 12-20/x3 +2d10); Face/Reach 5 ft. by 5 ft. / 10 ft.; SA spell-like abilities, tripping thrust; SQ augmented critical, cold resistance 10, construct traits, DR 20/+6, fast healing 20, fire resistance 10, SR33, vulnerabilities; AL CN; SV Fort +20, Ref +21, Will +15; Str 48, Dex 43, Con -, Int 29, Wis 32, Cha 34.
Skills and Feats: Skills omitted; Combat Reflexes (B), Dodge (B), Expertise (B), Improved Disarm (B), Mobility (B), Spring Attack (B), Whirlwind (B), Improved Whirlwind Attack^ (B)

With a 10 foot reach and Improved Whirlwind, nothings going through to him. He's like a walking blender.
