Monster Templates

Has there been any news on monster templates in 4e? They are among my favorite features of 3x and I would really hate to lose them.

According to Chris Sims in another thread, there will still be templates. They probably won't impose nearly as many numerical changes on the base creature, instead focusing on changing abilities, powers, and other aspects.

Along those lines, what about monster advancement has been said, if anything? Has anyone let slip whether monsters can still be advanced via class levels?

Mearls said they definitely can be, just LA/ECL/Monster HD as pseudoclasses is out.

Zombies
Wights
Wriaths
Vampires
GHOULS (and all related)
Liches
Ghost
Mummy (and all sub varieties)
Shadow
Spectre
