Monte's Alternate Movement & Aiming Area Spells Rules

Hey All!

A while back I found a page where Monte Cook detailed his rules for aiming area of effect spells (choosing a box instead of an intercise and rolling a d4 for the center of the effect) and for counting character movement.

While my group has been using the former for a while, we are going to be using the latter now, and while I know how it works, I wanted to see how he worded it, b/c I feel like my own explanations are sub-par. However, I cannot find the page I saw it on anymore. . .

Anyone know what I am talking about and know where I can find it?

Much appreciation in advance. . .

I guess my google-fu is weak, because several searches came up with bubkes!

But I found what I was looking for in your link. . . So thanks!

Just out of curiosity, what did you try searching for? Maybe I could help you.

Give a man a link, and you feed his curiosity for a day. Teach him to search and you feed his curiosity for a lifetime. ;)

Oh, and incidentally, apologies if my first post sounded a bit snarky, I should have worded it differently.

I think the key was your use of "d4" in the search.

I never did and thus found a lot of hits regarding Monte Cook and how movement works in Iron Heroes and other similar topics.

Ah, I see. Yeah, any time you're finding your search results are too broad, it never hurts to try throwing more words in there.

Another thing you may have tried is -"iron heroes" (exactly like that, with the minus sign and the quotes), to get rid of IH references. Although in that case it's conceivable you'd lose relevant results to (i.e. "Monte Cook, author of Iron Heroes, recently wrote in Dragon 138...")

A good rule of thumb is that there's no such thing as a search term being too complex. Just keep throwing darts til you hit something.
