I'm only just now starting on this, but I would like to hear your ideas before I delve any further in to this.
Inspired by eloquentaction.
Role: Defender
Power Source: Monster?
Whereas Druids fight to protect the natural, Moon Shields fight to protect the unnatural. Moon Shields have a soft spot for unintelligent, beastly types of monsters. Everything else can fall over and die for all they care as long as the cute little Rust Monsters are safe and happy. Moon Shields have sworn themselves to protect the unintelligent and uncivilized, and for this cause they have been granted the power to transform into monsters themselves.
Moon Shields recognize that monsters can be a threat to civilization however. For this reason, they will often search out monsters in order to transport them to a safer habitat in another plane. They will only kill monsters for purposes of euthanasia when nothing else can be done.
Moon Shields aren't nearly as peaceful toward their fellow humanoids. A good Moon Shield has no problem transforming into an Owl Bear and eviscerating any poachers that attempt to harm the cute little Rust Monsters.
"What are all these monsters doing in this dungeon? This isn't a safe place for monsters!"
So basically, the Moon Shield can use Planar Banishment and Wild Shape into various monsters (Bullettes, Manticores, etc.)
Maybe the Moonshield also has other planar powers like elemental attacks and teleportation.
