Can't talk about Thunderspire Labyrinth, but I successfully refluffed Keep on the Shadowfell and my players are very happy about it. I mean, the adventure as written is a bit low on story and it feels a bit rail-roady at times, but since the encounter areas are all fine, it was just a matter of adding some plot and seasoning it to taste. Now, for cool moments... Area 4 of Keep on the Shadowfell, the players enter through the secret door, however they fail to surprise Balgron the Fat, who jumps out the curtain and yells for the guards... So much for the surprise round Then the Cleric, in a stroke of genius, runs to the double doors and bars them, while the rest of the party kills the goblin warrior and corners Balgron. The rest of the Goblins start to batter down the doors and the party assumes ambush positions while the dragonborn infernal warlock starts to interrogate Balgron. The wizard readies an action to cast a spell as soon as the doors break and casts Grasping Shadows, killing two minions and severely damaging two goblin warriors. The Human Paladin is also in the area of effect, but the wizard misses his attack against him. The Paladin then dispatches one of the other Goblins, while the Cleric lasers the other one. Then the two warlocks teleport using Ethereal Stride to the other side of the bottleneck and start cursing and blasting the remaining goblins, killing two minions. The Wizard magic missiles another goblin and the paladin gets into the middle of the remaining goblins and uses Valiant Strike to great effect. A couple of rounds later, they were interrogating the goblin about the enemies plans (I am using a different plot and BBEG)... In that particular encounter, I don't think anybody rolled below 10. We all had a blast.
