Re: Founding date. Sorry, my bad. I realize now that you're of course right. I'm just thinking of the date of the Rommie war that ain't canon. I love the visuals, hate the song. I'm not really a big fan of the DS9 and VOY themes either, although they don't turn me off like the ENT one. I just feel rather neutral about them. I theme should prepare you for the show you're going to be watching. Farscape's theme gets you in the feel for general weirdness and oddity while Strgate's theme fills me with the wonder of exploration. X-Files' theme prepares me to step into a world of the occult and supernatural but Buffy's into a campy action/dventure show. CSI's 'The Who' theme doesn't really tell you much about what the show is about, but it fits the style of the show very well, tells you not of the stories the show tells, but how it delivers them as does Law & Order's which fits perfectly with the show's storytelling style, yet the differences in the theme between the spinoff shows is just right to fit each one, with SVU's faster tempo and CI's rocked up version. ENT's theme just doesn't fit the show. We get the teaser, allright, and the theme starts playing. Ok. Then the show starts, but it doesn't fit with the show at all. Not the subject matter and not at all the storytelling style. Sure, the lyrics may, but the lyrics always play second string (or more like, third or fourth) to the theme and personally I think they shouldn't even be considered as part of the equation. I mean, a LOT of people don't even listen to the lyrics, to them, the vocals are just another instrument, a sound without direct meaning. 'Faith of the Heart' doesn't make me think of adventure or space exploration, humanity's first steps into space or the path to experiance, but a couple that got married very young after she got pregnant, that now have two-three children, each in a different age group (a teen, a pre-teen and a little kid). They live in a small sub- urban house that they bought cheap and the father repaired. They have money problems and at least one of them owns an independant business, most likely a restaurant, a small bookstore/antique store or a construction company. Oh and did I mention the quirky neighbours/parents in law/friends/coworkers? What do I really want? A remix of the TOS theme! YEAH!
