More misleading stuff from WOTC

WOTC first said that the SRD would be updated as soon as 3.5 hits stores. The street date on it is July 18, so now why are they saying the SRD won't be updated until July 24? Also why are they calling all the "new" content that is in the DMG new when it's from other products? WOTC has a strange definatine of "new" and "as soon as its relased, we will do this".

I recollect them saying that the SRD would be released at about the time that the books came out. July 24 looks pretty close to me. Remember, they don't have to put it up at all, and they don't make money off it directly.
I don't have the DMG yet, but there's a lot of extra pages in the new DMG, and from what I've heard, a lot of new material as well. Some of it is revised from older books yes, but I doubt too much is just ported directly.

They've got some intern working on it. Give the kid a break. Have a seat, grab a beverage, and wait for those geek-bubbles to quit percolating in your blood, man.

I'd like to see the quote that says they ever promised to release it on the same day as the books. I think this is a D&D "urban legend" that got twisted out of a vague statement that it would be released *around* the same time the books were released.

If proven wrong, I will .... send the person who provides a verifiable quote a copy of the Dragonlance 3E sourcebook. :)

KenM, if you can't find that quote, I'd like you to change the title of this thread - because I believe that it inadvertently is a lie itself, as well as being rude and more than a little bit inappropriate.

Thanks. I'm sure you're annoyed, but over-reacting to a lack of free stuff isn't the answer.

Eric, I remember an early statement was that they'd release them on the same day, which then became about the same day, which has been within a few days for the past several months at least. I don't have a problem with that. Most likely someone made a promise and then had realities of the situation pointed out to them.

From the WotC 3.5 chat:

newtfeet: When will the SRD be updated for v.3.5?

WotC_Ed: We're planning on having it release for all three core books the same day the books hit the shelves. Obviously, we may be a day or two off, but Andy Smith, the guy who does all our SRD work, has been working right alongside us. I don't anticipate any serious delay.

And there you have it. Cut them some slack, for the love of Pete.

Read it right here

From here:

"20. SRD updated the same day books hit the stores."

Granted, don't know that it's an exact quote.

Also, from http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/news...ns&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=37&page=1

"Bill Slavicsek on the D&D Revision and the SRD -- "We will update and revise the SRD to reflect the revision. The revised SRD will be made available at the time of publication, just as we did with the d20 Modern SRD."

Thanks WizarDru -- I think I can see where one might get the impression that a promise was made, but they did say there might be a delay. In any case, e-mail me your address and I will send out that book ASAP. ericnoah@charter.net
