Hello Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts, a lot of you might know the SSI Gold Box AD&D computer games. In recent years I have done some real life pixel art with the use of felt balls, squares of felt (15 mm) and recently mosaic stones (10 mm). There are a few of the combat icon dragons from Champions of Krynn as feltball rugs. A red dragon portrait from Champions of Krynn featuring 29 colors plus two for the ui frame. Vala the female fighter, as she appears in the Amiga version from Pools of Darkness (there she is portrayed with 23 colors). So, here it is, what is done already: Feltball rugs: Squares of felt: Mosaic stones (the videos are on my own website, not on YouTube yet, so just linked): Vala and the Dragon Creation of Vala Now here comes a 15 color version of this dragon. It is just digitally created with images of these kinds of stones, that I used for Vala. Just to see, what might be possible with this color palette with its limitation of 27 colors. Now here is a 23 color version of Lord Soth from the Amiga version of Death Knights of Krynn. Here is another render video of the dragon framed in a 2 cm aluminum frame, similar to the 4.5 cm frame from the squared felt dragon. It would be 96 cm by 96 cm in size: Short red dragon clip I have some other motifs that I think that could be done even with the palette limits. The best starting point are the 16 and 32 color versions of these games. For example in Secret of the Silver Blades Vala has 15 colors, as mentioned the Amiga version of PoD gives here 23, whilst the VGA PC version presents her with 102 colors! At the moment I cannot afford the approximated costs of $315 for frame, glue, board and stones to make another one just for fun. But if by chance there is anyone interested to help in the creation of the red dragon, Lord Soth, or another image in this style to your liking, as mosaic stone art, do not hesitate to contact me.
