I have a one shot coming up where I have the PC's (mostly 12th level arcane casters with MotAO levels) pitted against a necromancer possessed by some sort of fiend. I am using the possessor class from Fiend Folio (6th level can control creatures) so that the fiend can possess the necromancer (what would have happened earlier) and slowly corrupt him eventually leading to his adoption of the corrupt template. This will occur when he learns Darkspeech (from BoVD) and speaks the first words effectively causing an evil weather incident (also from BoVD) - this is combined with a sacrifice - hence the severity to warrant such a weather event. Anyway, the fiend will have been summoned by the necromancer in his efforts to learn the language primeval (detailed in T&B). He has always been ambitious and learned that he could attain more power in learning a subsection of that language (house rule), namely darkspeech. The fiend has to be one that is very knowledgable - about lots of different things, and works with subtle methods: one that favors underlings over direct confrontation. I cannot figure out which fiend (out of the many that are out there) to choose. I wanted to throw it out to the populace of EN World... I want the final CR of this fiend to be below 20 so figure nothing with higher than an ECL of 14. Look forward to hear what you all have to say. Thanks ahead of time for your input ;).
