Jihan is a town famous for its gardens and fountains but of no great renown and the rest of the holding, while of the rank of a county, covers the Jihan mountains and is relatively poor as its mineral wealth was exhausted by the middle of the Age of Archons.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">However, the heart of these mountains contains a place of special significance to Marquilla: the Sapphire Lakes, a series of high mountain lakes at the tree line where Marquilla dwelled before she was an archon and where later, she created a retreat for herself and a hospice for her followers who needed physical or spiritual healing. It is a place of fabulous natural beauty from the snowcapped mountains reflected in the clear waters to the many lake nymphs. The Sapphire Lakes area has been maintained since Marquilla ascended at the end of the age of Archons but has lost some of its significance without her.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">Draeca took the holding in order to restore the lakes district as a place of healing where Draeca could heal those harmed in mind or body by the Mottul invasion. She has additionally established a temple in Marquilla’s old palace.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">Draeca split her gift of the king’s magic item between herself and her companion Aura, each receiving a cloak of protection of the finest kind. With her share of the ransoms and other loot, Draeca shared half with Aura and used the remainder to restore the Sapphire lakes district and establish the temple and its staff.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">The income of Jihan county she has applied to the restoration and the strengthening of the county. The county is out of the way and was little effected by the recent invasion but many its folk fell in defense of Pelion and Draeca has used county funds to establish a fund to raise war orphans which includes an education of their choice and establishment in a trade or profession. The remainder of the county funds Draeca splits between a defensive militia and non-military operation of the county. She does not use county funds for personal purposes aside from maintenance of a modest household in Jihan and another in the lake district.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">Draeca gave Aura every opportunity to part ways but Aura has grown very fond of Draeca and her companions and has chosen to remain with Draeca for now. While Draeca was still settling affairs in Jihan in the immediate aftermath of the campaign, Aura took in three orphans and began to train them as paladins to Marquilla.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">When Draeca established the temple to Marquilla in the old palace, she asked Aura to be the temple priestess and established a charter for the training of warriors (as paladins under Aura) and priests (as clerics, taught by Draeca and the priest Kirrik). The temple has graduated 25 paladins and 12 priests in its 13 years and has 45 students at present. Draeca treats Aura as an equal in all matters and as the leader of the temple.</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">Between Draeca’s renown in the recent invasion and her considerable diplomatic skills, Draeca has had good success in establishing the Sapphire district as “the” place to go for a quiet retreat. Draeca’s formidable healing skills have cured many, as have her counseling skills but additionally she has strived to promote Marquilla as a patron among the influential as well as convert all she can to the path of ‘good.’</span></span></span></p><p> </p><p><span style="color: white"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'">On that score, Draeca spent some effort among the captives in the recent war before their ransom trying to convert them from service to Mottul and the dark gods to Marquilla and a more noble path.
