Mounts

How exactly do these work in combat.

Say you are a ranged rogue or a Wizard on one, can you use your powers to attack from range while mounted, it appears you can melee from a mount.

Can you use magic items and skills from a mount like stealth and such, seems unlikely but just checking.

I can just see a Giant Ant with Ranged Cleric on top, being able to move 9 and stay away from trouble while healing party, and shifting 2 when need to, instead of 1.

I just stumbled upon this when I saw the mounted combat feat.

You can use any power while mounted.

You certainly can use magic items.

For stealth I would rule that you would take the lower bonus, either your own or your mount's. But certainly it should be possible to hide while mounted in some manner.

It might be more official to make two seperate rolls for rider and mount, but that's a lot of rolling.

That's what mounts are for. Note that you do not need the feat for riding and even fighting while mounted. All it does, is giving access to the mount's powers that have the Mount keyword.

The Mounted Combat Feat lets your Mount use your Stealth Bonus (and Athletics, Acrobatics, Endurance) instead of it's own.

That does imply that without the feat, you have to use the mounts stats..

Death of a Mount

They seem to have heaps more HP than me anyway.

But what are the rules regarding dyeing or dead mounts.

If you spend 1,800 gold on a mount.

And its dead, say a level 4 giant ant, what it cost to bring them back.

Can you save them from dyeing the same way a PC does.

Just seems funny for a Rogue to be dealing sneak attack damage while flanking on a giant ant with a dagger, or even an elephant for christs sake.
