Move Silently - beholders?

Ok, just a quick question:

We know that if a skill isnt listed in the monster statblock,
the monster doesnt have it. But the question arises:
Would a beholder need move silently? or is its mode of flight
completely silent? Or, If a beholder flies down a corridor, and kills everyone who could have heard it, did it make a noise?

Heh.

Also, along that same line of thinking,
shouldnt smaller creatures make less noise.. i.e. get a move silently bonus the same as they get hide bonus? And a large creature get a massive penalty? (You could hear the giants footsteps from quite aways away; the pixie on the other hand...)

Of course, this is all in reference to my familiar, an eyeball beholderkin :)

The beholder won't use MS, but in order to hear it, you could roll a listen check vs. the appropriate DC (just like to hear any other monster approaching out of view). The DC given for an owl swooping in for the kill is 30. You might rule the beholder is 25 or 20 because it's a lot bigger, but it's certainly harder to hear than a guy walking around in plate (unless it's humming show tunes or something).

You could just rule that the beholder makes cheesey 60's sci-fi "floating monster" warbling tone noises.

Oh yeah, and manifesting psionics do the same thing.
